I love simple questions that get useful interaction going with Team members. Below are three such questions.
My suggestion is that you type them out, give them to each Team member, ask them to think about them, come up with answers and get back to you within the next 10 days. Track who does and who does not get back to you, how long it takes and how thoughtful their input is. Not only will this exercise improve everyone’s working conditions and efficiency, it will give you an excellent read on their perceptiveness, courage and engagement.
The 3 questions are:
- What is the most boring part of your job? How could we make it less boring, automate it or eliminate it
- What is the most inefficient or unproductive part of your job? What causes the inefficiency? How could we make it more efficient? Are there parts of it that actually don’t have to be done at all?
- What is the most frustrating part of your job? What makes it frustrating? How can we reduce or eliminate the frustration?
You’ll be amazed at what you discover about your business and your Team through this simple exercise. I love to hear what you come up with. I’m easy to find at donald@donaldcooper.com.
