Cloverpop, a company that develops software to monitor the effectiveness of decision making in businesses, studied 588 real business decisions made by 184 teams, in a wide variety of companies. The study ran for over two years. Here’s what they learned:
- On average, teams make better decisions than individuals 66% of the time. Teams bring a broader perspective, identify new choices, reduce bias, increase buy-in and improve accountability.
- Fully diverse teams that include age, gender and geographic diversity made better decisions 87% of the time.
- Inclusion boosts results by 60%. The worst combination is an all-male team deciding what a diverse group will execute. The best combination is inclusive decision making and diverse execution.
